Original questioner of the May 2000 email wrote this today:
When I first got His answer I was a bit disappointed. But after reading His answer over a few times, I became struck on how brilliant it was. He gave a general answer that answered all of my questions, but on closer inspection, He also had encoded the specific answers in the text of the general answer. To be honest, I was competely blown away at the time and still am.
